The Minnesota Goat Ladies have long promoted dairy goats through educational and social events and have supported youth with an interest in dairy goats through education and many sponsorships.

 

Friends M​arjorie 'Marge' Kitchen and Karyl Dronen started the Minnesota Goat Ladies while working together to publish the Minnesota Dairy Goat Association newsletter. Around 2006, the pair, along with friends Mary and Doug Thompson relocated to southeastern Minnesota as neighbors, setting up their respective farms near Houston.

That year, the group took their past show experience and created the Minnesota Goat Ladies Bluff Country Classic, which officially kicked off in September 2007.

The fall, 'fuzzy' show was one of the last of the season and quickly became a favorite among goat breeders. Its laid-back atmosphere and energetic vibe, always with a fun theme, provided an opportunity to showcase some of the best herds in the Midwest while cultivating the camaraderie known among dairy goat enthusiasts. Sometime during the show's tenure, Thompson's daughter Emily Thompson joined in the planning.

The 2025 show exhibited more than 300 ADGA-registered dairy goats. That year, the Minnesota Goat Ladies passed the show torch to a new group - The Caprine Collective. It includes Laura Kieser, Emily Foley, and Kirsten, Evin, and Lauren Zoellner.

Plans for the show will remain largely the same, with continued themes and goat-related antics, with some new changes.
